Character Builders have built and developed housing solutions for hundreds of clients in Canterbury since 1997.
For over 20 years Character Builders and Character Homes have been building a reputation for renovating, repairing, building and checking homes in Canterbury.
Our teams are known for their skill and commitment to the details that ensure whatever the scale of project, it is completed to your satisfaction. Hundreds of clients, many recommended from others, attest to their communication and management approach that gives them peace of mind and assurance throughout the process!
Having been a significant part of the rebuild and repair programme across Christchurch following the earthquakes, we are now more focussed on renovations, and adding that extra value and space many are looking for in their existing home. Size and scale are not important, as our team adapts and can work on any project to give you the end result you desire.
Guy commenced his building operation in 1997, then soon after joined forces with a 3rd generation building company, “Lewthwaite & Son builders”, to form a longstanding relationship and a building company that would stand the test of time.
Over the years our projects have ranged from the small ongoing maintenance and repair needs of home owners, to large scale additions and alterations, and to brand new homes.
Whilst our marketing focus has always been with conventional and traditional NZ homes, this also naturally translates to a wide range of skills applicable to all types of building and construction, such as; light commercial Mall and Shop fit outs, Bars, schools, churches, etc.
And though we love the traditional, inevitably the sound practical skill and attention to detail that our staff lean to, provides us with architectural building and joinery detailing.
You will see our Character New Builds in various locations all round Canterbury and the West Coast, but likewise our skills have been in demand from a wide range of specialists, from mass production housing companies, developers, designers, and architects, all specialising in their own niche and all needing our ability to adapt and apply practical skill in so many different forms.
